1. About Bookshelf

Bookshelf is a digital publishing platform operated by The Comic Library (TCL) that enables creators, teachers, parents, and guardians to upload and share comics online. It is designed to encourage creativity, learning, and storytelling in a safe, moderated, and legally compliant space.

2. Eligibility

• Bookshelf is open to creators aged 13 years and above.
• For minors (under 18), uploads and related payments must be managed only by a parent, guardian, or teacher.
• By submitting content, you confirm you are legally capable of entering this agreement under the Indian Contract Act, 1872.

3. Ownership of Content

You (and your child, if applicable) retain full copyright of all comics uploaded.

By uploading, you grant TCL a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to:

• Host, display, and distribute your work on thecomiclibrary.com and TCL-approved channels.
• Use excerpts or images for non-commercial educational or promotional purposes.

You may request removal of your work anytime by emailing support@thecomiclibrary.com. Verified requests will be processed within 15 working days.

4. Hosting and Revenue

• Hosting Fee: ₹199 for 3 months per upload (introductory offer).
• Maximum file size: 50 MB (PDF/JPEG/PNG).
• Hosting includes moderation, listing, and display on thecomiclibrary.com.
• After 3 months, you may renew hosting at the prevailing fee.
• If Bookshelf enables paid-sales features, payouts for minors will go only to a verified parent/guardian bank account.
• Taxes and deductions (GST, TDS, etc.) apply as per Indian law.
• Payments are processed via RBI-compliant gateways in INR.
• Fees once paid are non-refundable, except as required under Indian consumer law.

5. Content Guidelines

To keep Bookshelf safe and positive:

• Submissions must be original or AI-assisted with proper human review.
• AI-generated content is permitted only if:
  • It does not infringe on copyrights/trademarks.
  • It is credited or disclosed when significantly created using AI tools.
  • A human creator (parent, teacher, or artist) has reviewed and approved it.
• No violent, hateful, explicit, or defamatory material.
• No personal details like child’s name, school, address, or contact info.
• TCL reserves the right to edit, refuse, or remove content violating these rules or Indian law.

6. Data Privacy and Security

• TCL collects only essential details (name, email, payment info) for hosting, moderation, and payouts.
• Data handling complies with IT Rules, 2011 (Sensitive Personal Data).
• TCL does not sell or rent user data, except authorized processors or legal requirements.
• All data stored on secure, access-controlled servers in India or equivalent jurisdictions.
• Parents/guardians may request access, correction, or deletion by writing to support@thecomiclibrary.com.

7. Payments, Taxes, and Deductions

• All transactions and payouts are conducted in INR.
• GST, TDS, and other applicable taxes apply as per law.
• Payouts for minors are credited only to verified parent/guardian bank accounts after KYC.
• TCL may require valid ID and tax documents for compliance.

8. Limitation of Liability

While TCL moderates content, it cannot guarantee protection from third-party copying or misuse. TCL, its officers, and partners are not liable for indirect or consequential damages. Users are responsible for ensuring compliance with Indian law.

9. Termination and Removal

TCL may suspend or remove content/accounts without notice if:

• Content violates these Terms or Indian law.
• A valid copyright/legal complaint is received.
• The submission endangers platform security or reputation.

10. Dispute Resolution and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by Indian law. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of Chennai, Tamil Nadu courts. TCL encourages amicable resolution before legal action.

11. Policy Updates

TCL may revise these Terms periodically. Latest versions will always be available at thecomiclibrary.com/bookshelf. Continued use indicates acceptance of updates.
