The Comic & Foldscope Lab: Our Idea
We propose to launch the Foldscope Comic Lab, a hybrid learning model designed to spark scientific curiosity in children by combining the power of storytelling with the excitement of hands-on exploration.
Sparking Curiosity with Comics
Every lesson begins not with a textbook, but with a vibrant comic. We take complex ideas and simplify them into illustrated narratives that children can easily relate to, sparking their curiosity.
Investigating with Foldscopes
Once a child's curiosity is ignited, they immediately transition to a hands-on experiment. Using a Foldscope, they can directly observe, test, and discover the science for themselves.
Our Impactful Projects
Genetics Outreach
In collaboration with scientists from Banaras Hindu University, we co-created Genetiks4U to bring the world of genetics to students in Grades 9-12 using comics and experiments.
STEM Comics for Schools
We partnered with Dr. T.V. Venkateswaran to design a series of STEM comics for the Tamil Nadu Model Schools Program, transforming intimidating concepts into fun stories.
Public Awareness Campaigns
We worked with the Tamil Nadu Police on their Drug-Free Tamil Nadu campaign, creating comics to spread awareness among schools and communities.
Libraries in Tamil Nadu
In partnership with the Government of Tamil Nadu, we've established 150 Rural Comic Nooks and physical comic libraries in multiple cities.
